The “40 Under 40” is an annual event that recognizes 40 West Michigan leaders who are under 40 years of age. This year’s complete list was revealed by the Grand Rapids Business Journal in a special issue October 9, with a recognition event on October 17.
Judges received 479 nominations and narrowed the list to 294 final candidates before selecting the list of 40 winners.
Beukema earned a degree in hospitality from Northwood University. He served as Chief Operations Officer of the family owned Suburban Inns from 2007 to 2016, when he assumed the role of CEO at the retirement of his father and company founder Peter Beukema.
“I am of course honored and pleased to be named to this select group of West Michigan leaders,” Beukema said. “Over the years I have noticed the people on the list are talented, hard workers and community supporters. I’m glad to be counted among them.”
